The vaccination certificate in 320,000 people without booster vaccination expires on Feb. 1.

Vienna – As of Feb. 1, the validity of the Corona vaccination after the second shot will be shortened from nine to six months. This still affects about 320,000 people who have not yet received a booster and will therefore no longer have valid 2G proof as of 1 February 2022. The deadline will not be postponed, nor will a transition period be introduced. This was announced at a government press conference on Saturday. There were still discussions about this issue on Friday.

The expiration was first communicated in November 2021, and the ministry pointed out that affected individuals had been notified of the change via push notifications in the Green Pass app, among other places – but those who had push notifications disabled did not get the message. The ministry stressed that reminders for the third vaccination are sent out “on an ongoing basis,” and the shortening is also pointed out in them. At the beginning of February – i.e. after the shortening and after the vaccination obligation has come into force – there will also be mailings to all households on the vaccination obligation, communicating the shortening from nine to six months.
